Kingston Hospital has received unprecedented interest from people wanting to donate to their breast milk bank.
The high levels of interest came about after an appeal was made last week for donations to help provide food for the premature and ill babies cared for at the hospital.
Staff are currently working through the 50 emails they received from mothers wanting to help.
At present there are more than enough donors to get the milk bank back to full, so the hospital is unable to take on any more donors.
Maggie Clancy, head of paediatric nursing said: “It is remarkable how many people have offered to donate to the breast milk bank.
“On behalf of Kingston Hospital and the mums and babies being cared for here I would like to thank everybody who has contacted us to make arrangements to donate. Thank you.”
