Train services were disrupted last night after a lorry ploughed into a railway bridge near Gipsy Hill.
The trailer of the large articulated vehicle hit the low bridge in Norwood High Street at about 4pm, meaning train lines had to be shut while Network Rail inspected the bridge for damage.
Southern were unable to run trains via Crystal Palace from Tulse Hill or Streatham Hill.
London buses were accepting valid train tickets. The bridge was given the all clear within 20 minutes, and the route opened again at 5pm.
But the disruption caused misery for many passengers on the service.
