An Epsom man pleaded guilty to claiming benefits while working as a minicab driver.
Bouraoui Ben Akili, 49, of Rosebank, Epsom, pleaded guilty at Redhill Magistrates Court on June 7 to three offences of dishonesty which resulted in him fraudulently claiming over £8,500 in Housing and Council Tax Benefit and Job Seekers Allowance.
At the hearing, Mr Akili was sentenced to a 12-month Community Punishment Order and ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £120 to the Council as well as repay the money he fraudulently received.
