An intrepid pair of walkers put their best pair of walking shoes on to raise cash for the Alzheimer's Society.

Jill Tame from Home Instead Senior Care’s Epsom office, along with her friend and neighbour Emma Lee, put their best feet forward for Just Walk 2010, organised by Across the Divide, and raised £1,000 for the charity.

The pair set off on the gruelling 40km walk, which started at Goodwood Race Course and took in a circular route across the South Downs, arriving at the finish line in around nine-and-a-half hours.

Jill owns the Epsom office of Home Instead Senior Care, an at-home care provider specialising in care of the elderly.

And Emma is hoping to join the Home Instead team later this year.

Jill said: "I really enjoyed the walk although it was by no means a ‘walk in the park’.

"The conditions were great but it’s a long way to go – but worth it in the end, it gave Emma and me a real sense of achievement.

"Alzheimer’s has for some time been a cause close to my heart and we are pleased to help raise money for such a worthy cause."
