Police are appealing for help after the Chief Constable's trousers were stolen...

But thankfully, the search for the clothing is only an event at the Surrey Police Family Day and Dog Trials on Sunday (June 20) and not a real investigation.

Families can follow the clues to find the stolen garment from 11am until 5pm at Mount Browne Police HQ in Guildford.

Assistant Chief Constable Jerry Kirkby said: "We are very excited that this Sunday, 20 June, we will be opening our doors to the public for the first Family Fun Day for many years."

The Surrey Police dog teams will also be testing their skills and training on the day to try to win trophies, including the coveted Anna of Avondale overall winner’s trophy.

And other attractions include the opportunity to; meet the Surrey Police operational teams, including the Firearms Unit, Scientific Support, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and many others, see Surrey Police officers in action using Taser stun guns, meet Surrey Police dog school officers and their dogs along with the latest litter of puppies and a range of other activities and attractions.

Assistant Chief Constable Kirkby added: "This is a great opportunity for Surrey residents to come along and see what goes on behind the scenes at Surrey Police and learn more about our work at what promises to be an entertaining, interesting and hugely enjoyable day out for all.

"While the annual Force dog trials will form a central part of the day, there will be a host of other attractions with activities for all the family to enjoy. I hope to see you there."

A free Park & Ride will operate on the day from Artington (on the A3100 between Guildford and Farncombe) and entry to the Dog Trials and Family Day is also free, with voluntary donations to the Chief Constable’s Charity, the Woking Hospice, welcome.

Well behaved dogs, kept on the lead, are also invited to accompany responsible owners to enjoy the activities.
