Strutting peacocks and inquisitive wallabies greeted visitors to Whitgift School’s Haling Park as part of a national open gardens event last weekend.
The independent boys’ school opened its gates for guests to enjoy the Tudor-style gardens, maze and quadrangle replete with exotic birds, as well as the Water Gardens unveiled by Sir David Attenborough in 2005.
Open Garden Squares weekend gave nature-lovers around the country the chance to visit green spaces not normally accessible to the public.
More information about the gardens involved is available at opensquares.org.
