Final preparations are underway for the New Addington carnival and peoples’ day this weekend at Milne Park.

Both days will start with a Boot Fair and Saturday morning will see the Little League Football Tournament being run, followed by performances by the AllStarz, Croydon Steel Orchestra and the Boys Brigade.

Peoples’ Day will start at 12pm with food from Jamaica, Lebanon, England, India, The Congo, Scotland, Ireland, West Africa and the Caribbean, as well as free activities for children.

There will be a performance by the Salvation Army Choir, a fashion show and African dancers followed by New Addingtons Got Talent. Entries for this must be registered in advance in order to take part.

Sunday will have another performance by the Boys Brigade followed by some African Drumming and a multi-faith Church Service.

The carnival procession starts at 11am from Vulcan Way and when it arrives at Milne Park the Mayor of Croydon, Councillor Avril Slipper will help judge the entries and award the prizes.

There will be performances by Fairchildes Steel Orchestra, Star Dance, the Essex Dog Display Team, the Wacky Tumblairs, Dance with Grace and Frescoball running on the basketball court.

The Fun Fair will be there all weekend along with Laserquest and many other activities and there will be numerous community stalls on both days.
