From community correspondent Steve Wicks: Girls from 1st Cheam Guides recently visited the BBC television centre for their Communicator Badge. During their visit they spotted the Prank Patrol van, Ashes to Ashes Audi and a Dr Who box. Inside the building their tour guides were very outgoing and provided great explanations. The Guides saw Matthew Amroliwala in the news office (although did not get to speak to him), they tried their hand at the reading the weather and news reports and took part in the Weakest Link (with a much less scary host than Anne Robinson!).

Whilst in London they scaled the the Monument to go somewhere high for their Adventure 100 badge. “They were not amused at the prospect of climbing and descending the 311 steps of the spiral staircase,” said Guide Leader Louise Marston “but they enjoyed the spectacular view from the top on a clear day and appreciated the drinks and ice cream on reaching the bottom”. The Guides also met two brightly painted elephants from the Elephant Parade which is in London until later this month.
