A Raynes Park couple will celebrate 65 glorious years of marriage on Wednesday.

Ruby, 87, and George Mason, 86, have lived in the same property in Edna Road for 51 years and put their long and happy marriage down to a healthy lifestyle including regular visits to Merton’s green spaces.

Mrs Mason said: “George has enjoyed playing bowls for many years and when I retired, I took up art and kept fit while ballroom dancing.

“We still love to go out to Joseph Hood playing fields and Morden Park as much as possible.”

She added: "The area has changed so much over the last 50 years.

"When we first moved to Raynes Park we had a motorbike and sidecar, and there were no other cars on the road. But now the place is full of cars and it’s almost impossible to park anywhere."
