A man has died after being struck by a train at East Croydon station this afternoon.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the station but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The man was hit by the 4.05pm train from Gatwick Airport to Victoria.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “BTP officers were called to East Croydon rail station on Tuesday, 25 May after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and the Metropolitan Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 4.22pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“The London Fire Brigade and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The train involved was the 4.05pm Gatwick Airport to London Victoria service.
