The RSPCA are trying to track the owners of a cat who suffered the ordeal of being trapped in a car engine.

The black and white short haired cat had to be rescued by the London Fire Brigade and the RSPCA after he was discovered in a parked car in Cowick Road on Saturday 15th May.

After a thorough wash with oil-removing gel at the RSPCA Animal Hospital in Putney the cat was given a clean bill of health.

The RSPCA are now keen to reunite the cat with owners so would like to hear from anyone who can help.

Staff nurse Marianne Segev said: "The poor cat was covered in oil when he first came to us but he looks great now he has had a good clean.

"As he was wearing a collar, we think he must have an owner out there."

People claiming to be the cat's owners will be asked for proof, such as a photograph, before taking the cat home.

If no one comes forward within seven days the cat will be put forward for re-homing.

Anyone with information should contact the Putney centre on 0300 123 0716.
