Croydon 1 Sutton 2
Sutton Schools Borough U11s came back strongly late on to snatch two goals which secured the Surrey League title at Warlingham on Friday.
Croydon had the better of the first half and after taking the lead on five minutes, threatened to run away with the game and Robert Feeley and his Sutton back four had to show all their resilience to stay in touch.
In the second half, Sutton gradually began to edge their way back into the game and equalised when Sam O’Leary-Blade got away from his marker and slotted confidently past the ‘keeper.
From that moment, the confidence visibly drained out of the Croydon team and Sutton showed real character and killer instinct to win the game when Zack Norman cleverly side-footed in the winner.
This is Sutton’s second league title in as many weeks – adding the Surrey to the Southern League and confirming the great consistency of the team. South West Trains Player of the match with a spirited performance in midfield was Stefan Ilic.
