Sutton 6 Newbury 0

Sutton Schools Borough U11s finished their league programme with this convincing win against Newbury on Tuesday to give the team the best ever record in the Competition’s 50 year history!

Sutton had early chances but took time to break Newbury down and had to wait until just before half time when Stefan Ilic slotted in and added a second after a goalmouth scramble.

The beginning of the second half saw Sutton kill the game off with an electric 3 goals in 3 minutes.

Sam O’Leary-Blade hammered in the first and then Zack Norman and Daniel Scantlebury weighed in to end any Newbury hopes of holding the league Champions.

O’Leary-Blade was on target again late in the game to ensure that Sutton finished the season with a perfect 10 wins out of 10 which has only ever been done twice before – a tribute to all the players including the Sutton defence which was in typically mean mood keeping yet another clean sheet for the ninth time in ten games and only conceding a single goal in the whole league campaign.

South West Trains Player of the Match with another excellent defensive display was Sutton skipper Craig McGee.
