Sutton Schools Borough U11s booked a place in the London Shield Final with an excellent performance against Barking on Saturday.

Barking threatened first as Sutton soaked up early pressure but the home team eventually got their game together and took the lead when Noah Vezzu’s free kick sailed into the top corner.

This was followed by Sutton’s best period as they passed the ball well and were rewarded with a second goal when Cameron Steele’s deep cross was headed in at the far post by Tommy Hicks.

Barking fought back strongly in the second half and forced a series of corners, but ‘keeper Feeley and his back four of Hopper, McGee, Morcombe and Jeevan, showed all the resilience which has typified Sutton’s season and sniffed out all chances for yet another clean sheet.

South West Trains player of the match with a display of great commitment and composure was Ryan Healy. Sutton play Croydon in the Surrey League on Friday at Trenham Drive, Warlingham.

Sutton wrapped up the Southern League with this convincing win against Woking on Wednesday.

Sutton were off to a flying start when Sam O’Leary-Blade’s cross was deflected by a defender into his own net. From then on , Sutton struggled to find their rhythm and didn’t really settle until after the break when they finally put the result beyond doubt.

Zack Norman slotted in number two and then a Billy Morcombe free kick put Sutton in complete control before they hit number four.

This win gave Sutton the Southern League title for the first time outright and the possibility of recording the best record of any team winning the title if they beat Newbury on May 18th. South West Trains Player of the match with an elegant and cultured display in midfield was Zack Norman.
