A care home in Thames Ditton has been accredited as a specialist dementia care provider.
The Emberbrook Care Home, in Raphael Drive, was recognised as a Pearl Specialist Dementia Service home by the Dementia Development Team.
Care home manager Jonathan May said: “We are delighted to have received recognition and accreditation as a Pearl Specialist Dementia Service home. We started working toward accreditation in April 2009 and care for 38 residents with dementia needs.
“We have seen particular improvement in individualised person centred care and found the biggest impact of working with the Pearl Dementia Service framework to be the increased engagement with residents, resulting in less need for antipsychotic medication.”
