Julian Speroni – 9/10 A superb performance, kept Palace in the game with a string of brilliant saves. Pick of the bunch was just before the break, tipping over a dipping Graham Dorrans effort from 35 yards.

Danny Butterfield – 7/10 Could not manage a second hat-trick against Black Country opposition this season, but was solid at right back and got forward.

Patrick McCarthy – 7/10 So nearly headed home Ambrose’s free-kick in the 63rd minute and played well with Lawrence at centre-back.

Matt Lawrence – 8/10 His best game for a while, had the unenviable task of shackling 6’3” opposition striker Roman Bednar. Could have scored in the 76th minute as well, but saw his header fly over the bar.

Clint Hill – 6/10 Lost Gabriel Tamas for the equalising goal and got caught out once or twice. Still put in the usual array of strong tackles.

Darren Ambrose – 8/10 Delivered a beautiful free-kick into the ‘corridor of uncertainty’ that led to the Palace’s goal, could have won it in injury time yet conceded a needless foul that led to WBA equalising.

Shaun Derry – 7/10 Quietly effective in midfield, always looking to push the game on. A few passes went astray but a battling performance.

Neil Danns – 5/10 Started to impose himself in the second half, but a tangle with Graham Dorrans and then a head-butt proved costly as he was sent-off. No help to anyone when he’s having an early bath.

Johnny Ertl – 6/10 Broke up play well, stopped WBA playing getting forward. But could not push on himself and had to be subbed off as Palace looked for the winner.

Sean Scannell – 7/10 Could have scored as early as the 4th minute. Looking a lot more comfortable and more willing to run at his man again.

Calvin Andrew – 6/10 Couldn’t hold the ball up in attack which prevented Palace from going forward with purpose at times. But did get back to help defend.

Stern John – 6/10 Came on for Ertl, added another dimension upfront but not that prepared to go and find the ball or tackle back. Nearly stuck the ball in the net in injury time.

Alan Lee – 7/10 His absence has proved how much we need him. A handful for any defence, won his headers and brought others into play with his flick-ons.

Alassane N’Diaye – 6/10 On for Lawrence in the 90th minute, had 6 mins of injury time to run about.
