Old Meadonians cruised to a 4-0 victory in a catch-up fixture at title chasing Old Minchendians.
It was easily Meads’ best performance of the season, with experienced Colin Hawkins’ prompting behind a front two of Alex Jones and Alex Smith providing plenty of cutting edge.
The opener came after 15 minutes, following good pressing by Jones and Smith on the left, which saw the ball break to Peter Eguae whose crossed was gleefully smashed home by Ed Glover.
Five months later, Jones was fouled 30 yards out and, from Jack Costello’s free kick, Andy Thompson headed home.
Minchs nearly pulled one back when they hit the bar but Costello delivered the knockout blow with a 20-yard free kick around the wall two minutes before half-time.
And Costello got his second and Meads’ fourth with another 20-yard bender with 10 minutes left.
Meads: Greening, Pointer, Palmer, Thompson, Glover, Costello, Gerrish, Eguae, Hawkins, A. Jones, A. Smith, (Quinn).
