A Fulham resident is the toast of a disabled charity after raising money with a mammoth effort to complete the London Marathon.

Alexandra Clapp put on her running shoes to cross the finishing line in four hours on Sunday.

And Victoria Wray, events officer at Leonard Cheshire Disability, said the charity was delighted with her effort of all runners who pledged to help the group.

“We are very proud of Alexandra, who was one of 80 runners who helped Leonard Cheshire Disability to raise well over £140,000," she said.

"This is a fantastic achievement and it couldn’t have been done without her support.”

And Alexandra herself said the effort was worth it.

“I did it," she said. "I feel really proud of myself and it’s a great feeling knowing that the money I helped to raise for the charity will be used to support disabled people in my local area and in other parts of the UK.”

Leonard Cheshire Disability has a number of places in running events around the country, including the 2011 London Marathon and 2010 Great North Run and The Royal Parks Half Marathon.
