A bogus bin man duping residents into paying cash for the council to remove their waste remains at large despite a two-month police hunt.

Officers said the man times his run just ahead of Merton Council’s dustmen, dumping the waste in their path before making off with the cash.

With a previous appeal in March unsuccessful, police and the council are warning residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people.

The con man is black, about 45-years-old, 5ft 10ins and of a stocky build, usually wearing high visibility clothing.

Any resident approached by the man should call the police or the council’s enforcement team on 020 8545 3170.
