Readers can give their take on top authors before they arrive in Wimbledon thanks to the new Bookfest book club.
The new group will meet every month to discuss titles before they appear in the town’s annual book festival, which takes place in October.
The club has been set up by travel writer and Wimbledon resident Jennifer Cox.
She said: “Bookfest brings so many accomplished authors to Wimbledon. I wanted to put on a regular night, so we could discuss these books in an informal setting over a few drinks, knowing the authors will be speaking here in Wimbledon later in the year.”
The club will meet in the cafe of the HMV Curzon cinema in the Broadway. The first meeting will be at be 7.30pm on May 18, when readers will discuss Tracey Chevalier’s book Remarkable Creatures. For more information email info@wimbledonbookfest.org.
