Libraries are normally known for peace and quiet, but books will make way for guitars when a Lambeth library holds a gig next month.

Brixton Library is hosting a collaboration between folk artists William D. Drake and Arch Garrison on Friday, May 28.

The event is part of the Lambeth Readers and Writers Festival, running throughout May and promising a packed programme of readings, comedy, performances and discussions.

Highlights this year include comedians Jack Dee and Jeremy Hardy discussing comedy writing at Nettlefold Hall in West Norwood library on Friday, May 21 at 7.30pm.

Nadifa Mohamed, nominated for the Orange prize for fiction for her novel Black Mamba Boy, will be talking about her work at Streatham library on Thursday, May 20.
