Fleet Town's 3-0 win over Godalming Town last night means Leatherhead still need three points to guarantee their spot in the Ryman Division One South play-offs.
The Tanners host Walton Casuals at Fetcham Grove on Saturday, and in a unfortunate twist the Stags need three points of their own to have any chance of avoiding the drop.
The scenario has put Leatherhead boss Mick Sullivan in an unfortunate position, having worked at Walton casuals in the past.
He said: "It’s a shame that Walton Casuals are the team we have to beat to get there as they are one of my old clubs which would be disappointing if they went down on the back of our success as I still have many friends at the club."
