A Carshalton firefighter lived up to his name last week when he regained his amateur boxing title for the fourth time.

Luke Williams, from Shaftesbury Road, was raising money for children’s hospice Shooting Stars, in Hampton, by taking part in the BWB contest for his fourth consecutive year.

The 28-year-old, who broke his nose during the fight, won on an unanimous points decision in the fourth round.

He said: “It always makes you feel proud to win something like this but more importantly we are helping improve the life of those less fortunate.”

Mr Williams, who at 11 stone fights in the welterweight division, is stationed at Wandsworth fire station and has been in the service for 6 years.
