A Wimbledon conservation group wants to put heritage on the agenda at next month’s local elections.
The Wimbledon Society, which campaigns to safeguard the town’s green spaces and historic buildings, has challenged the borough’s political parties to reveal where they stand on conservation issues ahead of the elections on May 6.
A questionnaire produced by the society asks parties are asked how they would protect conservation areas from development, involve the public in planning decisions and improve the borough’s open spaces. Parties are also asked how they would make Merton an environmentally friendly borough and improve cultural facilities.
