A van driver has been slapped with a fine for illegal rubbish transportation - after eagle-eyed cops spotted the waste in his open topped truck.
George Smith of Croydon was charged £865 after he was caught carrying an aluminium door.
He was stopped by cops and council officers conducting a sting operation in Ellis Road, Mitcham, in September.
He admitted transporting waste without a licence in a hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on April 9.
The Davidson Road resident was fined £500, plus £385 in court costs.
