Unfortunately, unemployment in Sutton has been on the rise with figures indicating a 50% increase on last year’s figures from 2616 to 3874.
To help alleviate this problem, Sutton Chamber of Commerce has been working with other partners to deliver Executive Plus a programme to help the unemployed get back into work or set up their own business. A second imitative is SmartBiz, the biggest annual business event in Sutton for those thinking of starting their own business.
Free to the public, SmartBiz is run this year by Sutton Chamber in collaboration with Sutton Council. The event will take place at the Holiday Inn on Saturday 22 April, 2010 from 9.30 to 3.00 p.m. and is sponsored by Lloyds TSB.
SmartBiz will showcase a wide spectrum of exhibitors who provide essential services to small businesses such as Business Link, HMRC, the Colleges and Sutton’s Economic Regeneration team. Those expected to attend include small and young businesses, banks, business students from local colleges and local residents.
