AFC Wimbledon U13s head to Derby County’s Pride Park stadium on May 9 to contest the English National Championships after winning the Surrey and South of England tournament.
Prior to turning up for this tournament, the boys had won 73 of their previous 76 games, spanning three years since they started playing 11-a-side football, scoring more than 315 goals and conceding only 34.
They won the Southern Regional final after comgin through a group containing county champions from London, Oxfordshire, Kent, Sussex and Essex.
Having seen 2,500 entrants whittled down to two teams, it was left for AFC Wimbledon to play Wealdstone in the final.
It was a close-fought battle, but AFC Wimbledon edged it 1-0, thanks to a fantastic individual goal from Jake Gill.
This is the first time any team from Surrey has reached this stage of the competition, and the Dons topped the day by having Gill and Patrick Roberts named as joint players of the tournament.
