At least two schools in Carshalton have been forced to partially close as a result on the ongoing travel chaos across the UK and Northern Europe.

Carshalton Boys Sports College was unable to open until l0.45am this morning and is warning of continuing disruption and partial closure all week.

Stanley Park High has also been forced to close it doors to years 8 and 9 today and tomorrow.

Airport closures are affecting people from across the borough. Alice Castle, a worker in North Cheam, was in the West Indies visiting friends when news of the airport closures reached her.

Due to return to work today, she has now been told that she won't be able to fly back until next Saturday at the earliest.
