Police are appealing for help in finding three thieves who posed as builders and stole £3,250 from a vulnerable 83-year-old woman.

The men visited the woman's home in Leithcote Gardens in Streatham on February 10. They told her she needed work done on her property and made her hand over money for parts.

Officers said the men returned on March 9 saying they needed more money for more building work. She handed them the thousands for work they never did.

One man is described as white, aged about 18. The others were white and aged about 45. They drove a dark coloured van.

Police want to speak to people who may have seen the van in their area, or who may have been approached by the men in a similar scam.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lambeth police on 0208 649 3455 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
