A pedestrian was taken to hospital with head injuries, after a Tuesday morning rush hour collision in Kingston town centre that smashed the windscreen of a black Audi.
Commuters helped treat the 45-year-old man while they waited for the emergency services to arrive at the scene in Wood Street, outside the Gala Bingo hall in Richmond Road.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed it was called just before 7.10am and treated the man for head injuries before taking him to St George’s Hospital, Tooting. The hospital was unable to release details of his condition.
One pedestrian said he saw the aftermath of the incident.
He said: “Pedestrians dash back and forth from by the Acorn pub to the Thai restaurant to save a double crossing using the green man crossings.
“The risk is exacerbated as the cars zip through to catch the lights. So there is a safe route across, but everyone is in a hurry today.”
