An Isleworth three-piece that count TV stars from Skins and Shameless among their fans are hoping to conquer the charts with an homage to their home town.

The Ruskins, also known as Eamon Sukkar, David Bevan and Ricky Johnston, are hoping to break into the UK Top 40 with their latest track, Old Isleworth - and this week picked up an unexpected new fan in the form of ward councillor Phil Andrews.

The band’s mix of country, Irish, two-step, ska-infused and modern rock-inspired music is unlikely to win over many middle-aged political leaders but Eamon and his brother and manager Ed were chuffed to have the backing of the Independent Community Group’s frontman.

Posting on his blog, Coun Andrews, who described the three 22 year olds as “a decent bunch of lads”, said: “It's nice to see some local talent emerging in the music world. Let's hope they get the break they deserve and help us to put Isleworth on the musical map.”

Upon learning about their newest fan, singer and guitarist Eamon said: “It’s not the usual but it’s still nice.”

The Ruskins, named after Ruskin Road, filmed the video for Old Isleworth in and around the Worton estate, where Eamon and Ricky live.

The band, who have known each other since they were 12, roped in Kaya Scodelario, who plays Effy Stonem in E4 hit show Skins and Elliott Tittensor, known to millions as Carl Gallagher in Shameless, to star in it.

Eamon explained the band bumped into some of the cast of Skins at a recent gig.

He said: “We met them when we were playing in London one night and they liked what we did.

“Luke, who plays Freddie in Skins, started helping us and tweeting (blogging) for us.”

Ed added: “It’s been a great help for us and pulled in a load of extra fans.”

The as-yet unsigned band will take on the charts on May 10.

Eamon said: “I think we’ve got a really good chance of doing it.”

The single is due out on iTunes for pre-order from Monday or text TRACK RUSKINS to 83262 for £1.
