Network Rail have announced that platforms are to be extended at Putney, Wandsworth Town and Clapham Junction railway stations, work which is hoped will ease overcrowding during peak times.
Commuters travelling on those lines are set to benefit from the work.
All four platforms at Wandsworth Town and three of the four at Putney will be extended, however the works at Clapham Junction will affect platforms 3 and 4.
Executive member for transport Guy Senior pictured right said: “It’s been a long time coming but local commuters who face a daily battle to squeeze into overcrowded carriages will welcome this news.”
