A charity is warning elderly residents to be extra vigilant after a bogus caller posing as an Age Concern employee carried out distraction burglaries.
Age Concern Sutton director Marion Harper said there were three incidents reported to Sutton police in the week running up to March 18 – and now the bogus caller has struck in Morden.
Mrs Harper said: “In the middle of March Sutton police informed us there was a woman posing as an Age Concern employee visiting the homes of older people saying she was checking their home security programme.
“I’ve now been informed by a colleague in Morden, the bogus caller has crossed the border.
“We want to let people know that we do not just call on people without making an appointment in advance.
“If residents receive an unexpected visit then it will be a bogus caller.”
Mrs Harper said the woman was white and in her 20s.
