Julian Speroni: Surely nailed on for a third consecutive player of the year award? Not at fault for either goal, kept Palace in it for a bit with saves from Jay Simpson and Tamas Priskin. 8. Man of the match.

Clint Hill: Did nothing wrong at left-back and but for a good save from Radek Cerny he would have equalised for Palace. 7

Shaun Derry: Pretty anonymous by his usual high standards and failed to get to grips with Adel Taarabt, the on-loan from Spurs midfielder who had something to prove to former manager Paul Hart, and so played out of his skin. 5

Patrick McCarthy: Reasonably solid in the centre of defence, but did lose Kaspars Gorkss for QPR’s second goal. 6

Darren Ambrose: The whole of Palace’s midfield weren’t allowed to play today, Ambrose included, as QPR pressed at every opportunity. Did not manage enough of his telling crosses or through balls.6

Neil Danns: Probably should have scored when put through in the second half, also had a smart turn and shot saved in the 67th minute. But not his best game. 5

Stern John: A few nice touches, produced the ball that played in Scannell late on, but offered nothing in terms of work rate that would have allowed his skill to shine. 4

Sean Scannell: Looked good on the right side of midfield but when moved to the lone strikers role found himself starved of service and increasingly lost up front. 6

Matt Lawrence: Had the pacey Jay Simpson under control for most of the match, the 20 year-old Arsenal loanee only slipping through once for a shot on target. 7

Calvin Andrew: Should have gone off in the first minute after a sickening clash of heads with Rangers man Damion Stewart. Played a disorientated 22 minutes. 6

Danny Butterfield: Rangers attacked down his flank at will early on, but was then moved into midfield after Nathaniel Clyne came on. 6

Subs: Nathaniel Clyne (Andrew, 22): Came on for the injured Andrew, moved into the right-back berth and gave the defence some much needed pace. 6

Alan Lee (Butterfield, 58): A clearly unfit Alan Lee came on in the 58th minute and left again in the 70th. Goodness knows why he was even on the bench but still came on and caused the Rangers defence some problems. 6

Johnny Ertl (Lee, 70): Came on for Alan Lee and could not affect a match that had already slipped from Palace’s grasp. 5
