Crystal Palace director of football Bob Dowie has revealed the club are trying to sell goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly after his verbal transfer request was accepted.

The Hungarian international has made it clear he does not want to spend another year in the Championship and the Eagles are keen to get him off their books before the start of pre-season training.

But Bob Dowie admitted the major stumbling block so far in trying to sell the 30-year-old is that nobody wants him, despite reports former Eagles' boss Iain Dowie is plotting a move to bring the keeper to Charlton Athletic.

"He's verbally requested a move and we are trying to move him on he's available," said Bob Dowie. "But nobody wants him at the moment so we'll have to wait and see."

Kiraly joined the Eagles from Hertha Berlin on a free transfer two years ago and has made the number one position his own, fighting off competition from Julian Speroni.

Despite a few rash moments the Palace keeper was one of the most consistent performers in the Eagles' unsuccessful promotion campaign this season and capped an impressive campaign by saving a Frank Lampard penalty in England's penultimate World Cup warm-up match against Hungary last month.

But much to the annoyance of the Eagles, Kiraly believes he deserves to be employed at a higher level and no longer wants to play in the second tier of English football.

"It's a little arrogant," said Bob Dowie. "But that's what footballers are like.

"He sees himself as being a Premiership goalkeeper, we're not in the Premiership and he sees himself playing there."

With one year left on his contract, Palace would rather see him leave now for a fee, rather than lose him next summer for nothing and are already sounding out replacements.

Peter Taylor's arrival at Selhurst Park has ignited speculation linking Hull City's Bo Myhill as Kiraly's replacement, but Palace may have to wait until the Hungarian is sold before they can make a move.

Bob Dowie also dampened speculation linking Ben Watson and Clinton Morrison with a move away from Selhurst Park.

Watson is believed to be a target of Bolton Wanderers and Middlesbrough who have been linked with £1million bids, and Morrison is said to bewanted by West Bromwich Albion.

But Bob Dowie has revealed the Eagles have not been approached by clubs for either player and they will remain at Palace next season.
