Green-fingered residents and businesses are invited to help Croydon bloom once again in an annual gardening competition.

The annual London in Bloom contest sees boroughs compete with their floral displays, permanent landscaping and planting.

As in previous years categories for residents range from individual front gardens to whole streets or communities working together.

And businesses can take part in categories including the best pub, restaurant, hotel and guesthouse.

Judges will visit the borough in early July to look at floral and planting displays, the standard of street cleaning, the absence of graffiti as well as the demonstration of environmental awareness, including recycling and nature conservation.

The closing date for entries is June 23. Competition leaflets and entry forms are available from local libraries and the one-stop reception in Taberner House or from 020 8726 6900 or by emailing parks@croydon.gov.uk.
