Why oh why did Croydon Council close our swimming pool?
I have been swimming twice a week for two years. After long discussions the council decided to build a new centre, including a swimming pool and gym in South Norwood. Great we all thought. Where are we today?
Exactly the same but without a pool. Although it has been closed for around five months, all the council hase managed to do is put up billboards saying it is going to build a new pool.
From my point of view I could still be swimming at my local pool and enjoying my exercise locally.
Instead I have to travel to New Addington twice a week. I did try Purley but found the experience rather awful as conditions there left a lot to be desired.
If the new pool is due to be completed by autumn 2007 the council had better get its skates on.
