A star-studded musical extravaganza is to be held in honour of RAF veterans from World War Two.

The To The Few concert, to be given by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force along with the London Philharmonia Chorus and the RAF Squadronaires, has been arranged with the RAF Association (RAFA), and will take place this Saturday at Fairfield Concert Hall.

Special guest conductor for the evening will be the renowned composer and producer Laurie Johnson and also taking part will be Oscar nominated Ron Moody, of Oliver Twist fame.

The concert will be compered by Gareth Hunt, best known for his role in The New Avengers.

It will start with a procession of RAFA standards, led by the RAFA national standard. The culmination of the evening will be the entrance of World War Two veterans on to the stage accompanied by members of the local Air Training Corps.

In between there will be plenty of opportunity for audience involvement with a singalong of a number of songs from the World War Two era. All proceeds from the concert will go to RAFA, which provides welfare, support and advice for serving and ex-RAF personnel and their dependants.
