Croydon Athletic had the saddest week in their history when chairman Keith Tuckey passed away last week.
As Keith would have wished Saturday's Ryman League game at home to promotion hopefuls Tonbridge Angels went ahead and in front of a large crowd, the Rams won 3-2.
It was a difficult game for the players and the staff to engage in after the tragic news but they set about their task with a this one's for the chairman' attitude.
The visitors took the lead on 16 minutes with a strike from Ray Powell, before Ebben Allen equalised from the spot.
Tonbridge went in front again just before the break but goals from Andy Martin and Barry Stevens clinched a memorable win for the Rams.
In the other division one game Whyteleafe entertained promotion play-off candidates Tooting and Mitcham and were beaten 1-0.
Tooting took the lead after only eight minutes when Leafe's keeper Wastell made a mistake to leave Jamie Findley to score the only goal of the game.
Croydon FC were back in division two action after their recent cup semi-final defeat and again were beaten losing away at Chertsey Town 2-1.
Chertsey went in front just after half time but the Trams levelled the score with 15 minutes to go when Joe Momb fired home.
Chertsey grabbed a winner five minutes before the end which will surely end the Trams slim promotion hopes.
