A successful Shirley businessman was found hanging in his garage by his own daughters, Croydon Coroner's Court heard last week.
The family of Upendra Patel tried to revive the 56-year-old after he was found suspended by a length of electric wired looped around a girder inside the garage on February 1 this year.
Relatives are no clearer on why the tragedy happened after a thorough search of his home in Shirley Hills Road revealed no suicide note.
Recording an open verdict at an inquest last Thursday, Dr Roy Palmer said: "There is nothing to indicate any intention on his part.
"It was a great shock to the family."
