Kicking off British summer time is The VolksWorld Show, the most eagerly anticipated Volkswagen event of the year. For this one weekend only, Sandown Park becomes a sanctuary for the whole VW community. The unique style of the show gives the VW scene an annual indoor exhibition, showcasing the very best cars from around the world.
As the only event of its type, The VolksWorld Show is the highlight of the VW Beetle calendar, with some awesome show cars on display, from totally customised racing Beetles capable of 150 mph to completely restored original examples from the 1950s.
After the success of last year, once again a whole floor at Sandown Park has been dedicated to the VW Camper Van. You can find this amazing display of buses alongside the fourth issue of the hugely popular new magazine VW Camper & Bus.
Herbie, one of the most beloved and magical VWs is back. This time he is the star at The VolksWorld Show 2006! To mark the return of the legendary “Love Bug”, VolksWorld are screening the new Herbie film – Fully Loaded – exclusively at this years show. If you visit The VolksWorld Show not only will you be able to see the new film but also the icon itself in the form of a very special Herbie replica.
Once you have feasted your eyes over the superb collection of show cars, there are many other great attractions to keep you entertained. For the children there’s a multi-lane Scalextric track, bouncy castle and radio-controlled cars. For the big kids the on-site Daytona Go-Kart track is open for drive fun.
There will also be a record breaking attempt to cram as many people as possible on a Bug.
The VolksWorld Show is open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, April 1, and from 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday, April 2. It is being held at Sandown Park Racecourse Exhibition Centre, Esher, Surrey. Entry to the show on the day costs £12 for adults and £4 for children. For more information on The VolksWorld Show check out www.volksworld.com
