Clinton Morrison is hoping to start the turn of the new year by keeping to his new year resolution not to answer back the manager.

The charismatic frontman admits he is sometimes too keen to air his views over certain footballing matters and is hoping to curb his opinions towards Palace boss Iain Dowie.

But Morrison revealed that Dowie doesn't want to him to change and wants him to remain as the loudest player in Selhurst Park dressing room.

Morrison said: "My resolution is to try and not answer back to the manager.

"That's what I want to do, but he said he doesn't what to cut out what I am. I am what I am, and if people don't like me for it then don't speak to me. I'm a ranter and a raver and when I come off the pitch I'm the happiest guy."

The 26-year-old also revealed how he hopes to maintain his partnership with fellow Palace striker Andrew Johnson, after starting the last two games against Watfiord and Leicester City as a front two.

Morrison admitted that the partnership has taken longer to come together than he first anticipated, but hopes Dowie will stick with the combination for the coming weeks.

Morrison said: "It's looking good. Obviously it's taken a bit of time with AJ getting injured and the gaffer changing the team around, but now hopefully we can stay together as a partnership and start building."

The Republic of Ireland international has played a prominent part in the Eagles festive run, scoring one goal and making Andrew Johnson's winning penalty against Watford.

Morrison was criticised by Watford players for going to ground too easily, but the Tooting -born striker feels it was a definite penalty.

Morrison added: "AJ's crossed the ball to me in front of Clarke Carlisle and I turned him and was just about to shoot and I feel him pull my jersey and when I feel someone pull my jersey I just go down in the box and it was a penalty.

"He was all over me the whole game but the ref was hardly giving me anything, he gave us something in the end and it counted for the three points."
