A Croydon man and his two sons have been banned from being company directors because of the way they ran their business.

John Charles Hall, from Mayday Road, and his son David Richard Hall, from Barmouth Road, Shirley, were each given a four-year ban by Croydon Crown Court, while Martin John Hall, from Christchurch Road, Purley, was given a three-year ban because of their conduct as directors of John Hall and Sons (Croydon) Ltd.

The business, based in Mayday Road, Thornton Heath, operated as a removal and warehousing contractor. It was wound up on May 15, 1994, with debts of between £448,887 and £563,887.

Matters of unfit conduct found against the trio by the court of May 1, 1998, included that they:

l knowingly continued trading beyond a date when there was no reasonable prospect of all creditors being paid

l recklessly disregarded advice that the company was trading while insolvent

l failed to keep proper accounting records

l failed to exercise adequate control over the company's financial affairs.
