Talented young dancers are needed to help turn science into entertainment.

IMPACT Danscience is looking for dancers to work with biomedical scientist Dr Sheila Ochugboju and dancers Angika to explore themes like nature and nurture.

The project, running from October to December, will see dancers exploring epigenetics - the idea that interaction with the environment has long-term effects on our genes.

Organised by Croydon Council and John Ruskin College the project will travel to community venues in Croydon and then on to secondary schools.

The collaboration is part of Mayor of Croydon Councillor Maggie Mansell's theme for the year, celebrating science.

John Ruskin's principal, Jennifer Sims, said: "The programme brings together the college's main strengths, science and dance.

"This summer the college achieved significant results in science and we started the year with new science and sports facilities."

She added that the college's dancers also worked with local schools.

Auditions will be held on October 15 and 16 and are open to young people aged 16 to 18.
