Thugs steal boy's ring
A 16-year-old Addiscombe boy was attacked on a bus last Thursday by two thugs who made off with his gold ring.
It happened on the 197 bus at 6.20pm in Portland Road, South Norwood. The main suspect is described as 18, black, with long sideburns and a one-inch scar on the side of his face. Details to 0181 649 1336.
Bag snatched
A 46-year-old Thornton Heath woman was pushed into a hedge when a robber made off with her bag on Thursday night.
It happened in Dunheved Road North when the suspect came up from behind and attacked her. Police say he got into a car and sped off.
Arts grants
Almost £250,000 in grants has been awarded to arts groups in Croydon by the council. Among groups to benefit during 1998/99 is the London Mozart Players (LMP) which is to receive a grant of £84,250.
Croydon's Warehouse Theatre has been awarded £123,500.
