Tonight's (Wednesday) much-anticipated clash between Crystal Palace and Inter Milan will go ahead after the giants of Italian football had a change of heart over cancelling their English tour.

The first match of Palace's centenary season was called off after Inter withdrew from their four-match tour due to worries about security.

But following criticism, the Nerazzurri quickly reversed their decision.

Gordon Law, editor of Palace fan website holmesdale.net, said: "I'm glad that common sense prevailed in the end.

"It would have been a huge financial loss had the game been cancelled because Palace had sold some 18,000 tickets.

"It was a big game to mark the club's centenary and it would have upset Palace's pre-season preparations if it had been cancelled."

The decision to cancel had been attacked by London Mayor Ken Livingston.

He told Sky News: "The terrorists I am sure will be celebrating the decision.

"We can not allow the terrorists to change the way we live or they will be very close to achieving their aim."
