Four staff at a Vauxhall dealership in Croydon are enjoying a taste of celebrity life after appearing in the car retailer's latest advertising campaign.

Sales consultants Jo Knight and Alan Marsh, commercial vehicles specialist Eileen Cousall, and technician Aaron Kendall, are the stars of the advertising campaign and have seen their pictures on buses all over Croydon.

They say they are frequently recognised by customers and say they are enjoying their five minutes of fame.

The idea of using staff at Vauxhall's Phoenix Croydon dealership in Purley Way was to show customers the people they would be meeting and talking to.

Alan, 26, said: "The whole experience has been great fun.

"The other day I was driving behind a bus and saw a huge picture of my face grinning back at me.

"I must admit it feels a bit weird when I see a picture of myself on the back of a bus, but it's all really good fun and a laugh."

However, Alan has had to contend with his fair share of good humoured banter from his colleagues, but is taking it in his stride.

He said: "The technicians give us a lot of stick, but I suppose it gives us a lot to chat about when we're at work.

"One said that I looked like a back of a bus anyway.

"So I just told him that he was too ugly to go on the back of the bus!"

Alan's stardom also took his mum by complete surprise.

He said: "I didn't tell my mum that I was on the posters so she was shocked when she first saw me and phoned me straight away."

Eileen, 48, said: "My family and colleagues think it's really funny how much I'm being recognised all over Croydon.

"It feels as though I'm a celebrity and I'm getting quite a taste for it.

"It's all good fun, but it's surprising how many people have seen it and recognise me."

She added: "My grandchildren think it's great."
