I received, in the post this morning, a penalty charge notice for "using a route restricted to certain vehicles, buses, cycles and taxis only" in Addiscombe Road by Canning Road East at 8.12am on July 1.

It must be true as they have videotape evidence and if I pay within 14 days a reduced amount of £50 is payable.

The fact that I had no idea that I had taken a restrictive route or did not do it intentionally is of no consequence.

Knowing the penalties for using bus lanes etc, I am so careful so what went wrong? With the risk of upsetting people out there, may I suggest, once again, that the signposts are misleading.

It's not that I am a stranger to the area I live approximately a mile away!

At least it has opened my eyes to what Croydon has become and I am going to follow the example of many others sell my house and live as far away as possible.
