London has experienced an indescribable horror with many innocent victims and large numbers affected by the bombings.
In the aftermath we must face together three challenges.
The first is the need for defiance in the face of terrorism.
London is commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
The London that withstood the Nazi onslaught is now the London that will defeat this new terror.
The second challenge is unity.
We must stand together as a community of communities to confront those who seek to divide us.
The third challenge is that all London communities must be bold in tackling extremists in our midst, whether they be the small minority of British Muslims who mouth the evil hatred of al-Qa'eda or those racists who target the decent law-abiding Muslim community.
