Four local schools are getting together to create an exciting afternoon of music for youngsters during the school holidays all for free.

The man behind the idea is Sanderstead resident Derek White. Life coach Derek has lived in the area for 18 months and has a nine-year-old son Favian attending Gresham Primary School.

"I noticed that there were no music workshops in my area, and felt that local children are missing out," he says. "I created the event as part of a Landmark Education course on which I am a head coach. The course encourages participants to make a difference in their communities."

Three primary schools, Atwood, Ridgeway and Gresham and Whitgift School are actively supporting this event. Young musicians from Whitgift School are leading a musical workshop for young children that will show what creativity and fun is available from music.

Children from tears four and fiveare welcome to attend this free event providing they have completed a place request form. There are only 50 places and they are going fast.

The Whitgift team will warm everyone up with a medley of numbers. Two, one-hour workshops will be interspersed with a 20-minute break. The event will culminate with a 10 to 20 minute performance by everyone involved.
